Breon O'Casey Breon O’Casey is respected and admired as a painter, sculptor, jeweller and weaver and more recently as a printmaker; working closely with Hugh Stoneman and experimenting with lino-cut, etching, and His prints have an immediate impact, combining simplicity of form and line and often vibrant colour, with his highly personal vision of birds, trees, fruit, abstract forms and, more recently, the figure. They all express the power of the simplified form. For most of his career Breon has lived in Cornwall and has been closely associated with the St Ives’ School of painters and sculptors. His apprenticeship to the sculptors Denis Mitchell and Barbara Hepworth confirmed his ability to work with his hands; he also benefited from friendships with Peter Lanyon, John Wells, Bryan Wynter and Tony O’Malley – all iconic artists working in Penwith. The eldest son of the Irish playwright, Sean O’Casey, Breon celebrates his eightieth birthday this year. Stoneman graphics have published the work of Breon O’Casey for many years.
