Malcolm Wilcox
Painter
Malcolm Wilcox trained at the Croydon School of Art and The Royal College of Art as an illustrator and graphic designer.
After a brief period in advertising in London he moved to Plymouth and set up his graphic design studio at Westward Telavision and chose to live on the Cornish side of the Tamar at Miillbrook, going to work on a little ferry boat.
He moved to the Midlands, lecturing at Birmingham Polytechnic for some years before setting up a design and manufacturing company,”Sari Fabrics”.
Malcolm has been travelling extensively painting landscapes and architecture in Europe, Turkey, Morocco, India, China, the USA, Croatia and, recently, Symi in Greece.

“I return to this special place, this secret corner of Cornwall again and again. It is still unspoilt and is like being on a wonderful island.
I am fascinated by the blocks and shapes of the buildings in the villages and the setting against Mount Edgecombe and the great sea. It is almost unreal, a theatrical set emerging; ther is great magic here.”

“I try to capture the atmosphere and the magic of the reflected light on the Venetian buildings from the piercing sun, and the multiplicity of the blocks, through the use of minimal expressive marks, almost like a glimpse.”

Malcolm has exhibited extensively in Warwickshire and also in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and St.Ives, Cornwall.
