Margaret McLellan
Artist

Margaret McLellan’s works are a very personal response in which the indomitable, timeless rhythms of place are acknowledged and reflected upon in a sensitive and compelling manner.

Travelling beyond what may be immediately apparent to arrive at a profound and personal destination, she teases out the true essence of her subject matter.

She is able to distil an abundance of textural description into a beautifully simple composition, by virtue of thoughtful layering and considered paring away of colour.

By using line and richly modulated colour she divides the canvas with dramatic effect and formats the focus of her compositions rendering them with abstract simplicity.

"My work is about the passage of time.   I am constantly drawn to ruins and erosion which I try to paint using simple compositions that abound with textural description." Margaret McLellan
