Jane Moore

Jane was born in North Wales and studied a Pre-diploma course in Art and Design. She was very fortunate to have been taught and introduced to metal work by Kathleen Makinson, who was an inspiration. Jane went on to study Silversmithing and Jewellery at Loughborough College of Art and Design and gained a B.A.

Whilst in her first year she met the love of her life Neil Moore - painter. 3 children then came along. John Moore - contemporary jeweller, Mirren Moore - teacher and mother of 2 and William Moore - principal ballet dancer with Zurich Ballet.

Since leaving college Jane has been designing and making jewellery in Leamington Spa.  A short course by Gudde Skyrme set her on her way to enamelling to enable her to use colour in her work.
She has exhibited widely both home and abroad in many galleries, trade and retail shows. Her work has also been acquired by Museums and Art Galleries across the country including the Birmingham City Art Gallery, Staffordshire Art Gallery, Shugborough Hall, Leamington Spa Art Gallery and The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

She has been awarded in total 4 bursaries by West Midlands Arts for travel, research and development into the designing, making and application of fine enamel transfers on to enamel.
In 2006 Jane won the British Jewellery Association "Kayman" award and in 2007 and 2011 was commended by the Design and Craftsman Awards for new technologies.

Jane has taught part time in various establishments since moving to Leamington Spa and most recently at The Birmingham School of Jewellery.

In 2001 she opened a jewellery gallery in the town of Leamington Spa where she hoped to introduce and educate the residents into buying contemporary jewellery but alas 8 years later the recession 'bit' and Jane decided to close and concentrate on her own work in her lovely new workshop at the bottom of her garden.

She has had some interesting commissions including: Tony Blair's Christmas gifts in 1996, a collection of Egyptian inspired jewellery by The British Museum in 2001 and also jewellery for the shop again at the museum for the "Shah Abbas" exhibition in 2009.

Jane is a full and active member of:  The Designer Jewellers Group
                                                           The Association of Contemporary Jewellery
