Born 1944, Lynda Ruth Brown studied at Bath Academy of Art, 1963 – 1966. She is an accomplished abstract landscape artists, she works in the tradition of the painterly Post-Abstraction that Hodgkin, Lanyon and Scott developed at Bath. She paints in oils, capturing the shape of coast and harbour with bold marks and colour. She has shown extensively since 1973 in Cornwall and the South West of England with the Penwith Society of Artists.
Lynda’s most recent work is uncompromising both in its non-associative quality and its stratification of paint application. The final result is lyrical and meditative; it examines and explores the process of painting in its most fundamental form.
