Mary Rich

Mary Rich was born in Cornwall where she still lives and works.

She studied painting and pottery at Bournmouth College of Art, with David Ballantyne, followed by workshop experience with Harry and May David at the Crown Pottery, and with David Leach in Devon. She set up her own pottery in Falmouth in 1962. She is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain, a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsman and Past Chairman of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and Past Chairman of the Cornwall Crafts Association.

After many years of producing salt glaze ware, she now works in porcelain richly decorated with gold and lustre - perhaps inspired by her ancestors, who were involved in the Cornish mining industry for many generations.

Her work is included in major national and international public and private collections.

She is a member of the Penwith Society of Arts.
