Sotis Filippides

Sotis was born in Athens in 1963 and began studying at the Athens College of Ceramics at the age of 18.  Subsequent to his move to London his work was chosen to represent the Bronze Exhibition of The Royal Academy of London.  He has been a visiting lecturer of symposiums in Tel Hai, Israel, and held demonstrations within The British Museum for the Pompeii Exhibition of 2013.  Sotis has amassed an impressive private client list for whom his work adorns walls and gardens from Egypt to Singapore.

‘I produce handmade ceramics, each piece unique, hand thrown, at once rough and textured.  My inspirations are from many sources, with an organic simplicity.’ I spent childhood summers in the family's house beside the sea in Greece.  The shapes and colours of pebbles and shells, and the textures of the rocks and driftwood left a deep imprint in my memory, and they can all be found in my late work'  Sotis Filipiddes
